Billie “Sue” Chinn, age 66, of Alma, passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at Schnepp Senior Care and Rehab Center in St. Louis. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, November 9, at Parkside Assembly of God Church in St. Louis, with Pastor Dean Bliss officiating. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, November 8, at Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca.
Sue was born October 24, 1946, in Reed City, the daughter of Bill and Madeline (Starkey) Ferguson. She graduated from Flint School for the Deaf in 1966. She married Marvin “Dallas” Chinn on September 17, 1966 and worked at Wolverine World Wide shoe factory in Ithaca from 1967-68 until the birth of her first child. She also worked as a teachers aid at St. Louis schools, working with hearing impaired children.
Sue enjoyed crocheting, spending time with her grandkids, going to church, and attending the Fahola deaf camp every year.
Sue is survived by her husband of 46 years, Marvin; her mother, Madeline Ferguson of Alma; her children, Steve (Julie) Chinn of Alma, Kristie (Steven) Bowen of Riverdale, and Tammy Chinn of Detroit; three sisters, Trisha (Vic) Smith of St. Louis, Janine Snyder of Alma, and Ruth (Chuck) Head of St. Louis; her brother, Randy (Janet)Ferguson of Arizona; and fifteen grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Bill Ferguson.
