Beryl Merritt Muscott
Beryl M. Muscott, age 95, of Breckenridge, died Monday, March 25, 2013, at Hearts Content AFC in Breckenridge.
Beryl was born June 18, 1917, in Breckenridge, the son of Harvey and Blanche (Martin) Muscott. He married Ruth Feitchenbiner in April 1943. She preceded him in death on November 9, 2002.
Beryl truly loved his career as a farmer. He started farming with a team of horses, to retirement with a new case tractor equipped with air and stereo. He enjoyed drawing, puzzles, and had an elephant collection and a tractor collection.
He looked forward every year to his birthday celebration with his family and friends. He especially loved his family. He liked to be teased and we loved to see the smirk on his face when he was. He enjoyed telling his stories of years ago. He always had little sayings from years ago that he would recite for the grandkids. He looked forward to going out to eat and visiting with every person that made eye contact. His famous lines were, “what do you think of a 95 year old man going out to eat?” or “How old do you think I am?” He was a christian man who spoke the gospel every day, loved listening to the old time gospel songs, and was always current with what was happening in the world.
Beryl is survived by his children, Ron (Debbie ) Muscott, Bev (Ed) Marsh, Larry Muscott, Stuart (Holly) Muscott, Suzanne (George) Stoner, Janet (Gary) Cotter, and Linda Bigelow (Bill Dean); 19 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Nicholas Stoner; and his sisters, Dorothy Gillis, Cecille Bongard, and Thelma Downing.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2013, at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca, with Pastor Keith Wise officiating. Interment will follow in Ithaca Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Emerson Presbyterian Church, 5031 N. Wisner Rd., Breckenridge, MI 48815.
