Thelma Irene Chaffin
Thelma Irene Chaffin, 84, went home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on January 21, 2019 at Warwick Living Center in Alma, MI.
She was born to Scota and Mable Chaffin on August 16, 1934 in Ann Arbor, MI. She was the seventh of their eight children.
She is survived by her younger brother, David and his wife June Chaffin of Riverdale, MI.
Thelma was preceded by her parents Scota and Mable Chaffin, elder siblings and their spouses; Milan and Ruth Chaffin, Reuben Chaffin, Darlene and Waldo Drummond, Arleta and Richard Ringle, Florence and Harry Dove, and Ada and Carmen Murphy.
Affectionately known as Auntie, to her many nieces, nephews and siblings, she had deep love and devotion for her family. Thelma was a strong woman of faith who believed prayer changes things. She also had a heart to follow the Lord and help others. She was deeply involved in giving and helping with missionaries on the mission fields. Her life verse was Deuteronomy 33:27. “The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them.”
In the 1960s and on May 7, 2010 the Lord blessed Thelma with the verse from Isaiah 54:1 “Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the LORD”.
Thelma’s Favorite Hymn was “How Firm a Foundation” and she also loved the song “Wonderful Wonderful Jesus is to Me”.
The funeral service will be held at the “Saint Louis Holiness Church” in Saint Louis Michigan on January 24, 2019 with viewing before service at 9:00 with service starting at 11:00.
The family is being served by the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca. Condolences may be left for the family online at www.bardenfuneralhome.com.
