Wendell Charles Boyer
Wendell Charles Boyer was born on June 12, 1931, in Newkirk, Oklahoma. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on the morning of February 16th, 2023 in Alma, MI.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; his two children Becky Hartman and her husband Blaine of Ithaca, Michigan, and Brad Boyer and his wife Stacy of Independence, Kansas. He has seven grandchildren; Autumn, Maggie, Bethany, Keegan, Caleb (who preceded him in death), Seth, and Quinlan. He has eight great-grandchildren; Blake, Brody, Patton, Cora, Mabel, Everett, Blythe, and Riley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Oma Maggie (O’Dell), and his eight brothers and sisters; Harold, Johnny, Victor, Lucille, Lorene, Richard, Rosemary, and Jimmy.
Wendell and Helen were united in marriage on November 20th, 1954 in Independence, Kansas, and spent 68 wonderful years together. They enjoyed many vacations during that time throughout the United States and around the world. He enjoyed spending time with his family and playing with his grandchildren. He left us with so many memories that we will always cherish and have a good laugh.
He served in the United States Army and is a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the 7th cavalry and received two purple hearts, and was a prisoner of war.
After the war, Wendell attended and received an associate's degree from Independence Community College in Independence, KS. He then went to work for Kansas Gas & Electric as a lineman and retired after 30 years of service on November 1, 1990.
He will be remembered for his mischievousness, his love of a good steak, chasing squirrels, and as a great storyteller, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

He always made me smile when Cindy and I would catch him and Helen in Wichita, strickly by accident. It seemed we frequented some of the same eating establishments .
Helen I am truly sorry for the loss you and your family are dealing with now and I hope all the good memories and joy that Wendy brought to thoes close to him will help carry you guys through the days ahead. Our thoughts are with you. Take care, God bless and keep you all. Jim & Cindy Brown
